Dual Speed Active Stall Wind Turbine Simulator

The entry-level simulator that introduces the fundamental concepts of wind turbine operation.

What you will learn

This simulator covers the most common subsystems in a modern wind turbine, operational conditions, the basis of the asynchronous induction generator (squirrel cage), active stall control principles, and dual-speed operation.

Recommended as the first simulator in the learning path, as it introduces concepts used by all other simulator types.

Rotor Resistance Controlled Wind Turbine Simulator

An important step in the evolution toward modern variable-speed wind turbines.

What you will learn

This family uses a key characteristic of asynchronous induction generators to solve the problem of using the drive train as an energy storage device to cope with wind gusts. It introduces the concept of variable rotor resistance control.

Understanding this family is essential before progressing to DFIG turbines.

DFIG Wind Turbine Simulator

The most widely installed family of wind turbines worldwide.

What you will learn

The Doubly-Fed Induction Generator is a complex production plant that exploits the capabilities of modern Power Electronics. This simulator includes full simulation of the Back-to-Back converter, realistic wind gust scenarios, and grid interaction.

Available in 50Hz and 60Hz grid frequency versions to match your regional power grid.

Wind Turbine Drive Train Analysis

Engineering tool for designing and studying the Operational Curve (blade RPM vs. wind speed) of variable-speed wind turbines.

NREL Reference Documentation

NREL published in March 2008 the reference paper: "Advanced Control Design for Wind Turbines Part I: Control Design, Implementation, and Initial Tests". It contains the description of algorithms required for designing drive trains that extract the maximum power from the available wind.

Operational Curve Calculator

To extract maximum power from existing wind speed, a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm controls blade rotation proportionally to wind speed. This application evaluates the algorithms needed to achieve it.

It is an engineering tool designed to analyze and define the operating conditions of a wind turbine drive train based on blade type, blade length, and its coupling with the electrical generator, including synchronous speed and the selected gearbox ratio.

Power Electronics Back-to-Back Converters

Engineering tool for computing the demand on Back-to-Back converters connected to asynchronous induction machines in DFIG wind turbines.

DFIG B2B Application

This program computes all the magnetic and electric variables in the asynchronous induction machine of DFIG wind turbines, and the demand placed on the Back-to-Back converter. Ideal for post-mortem analysis of these converters.
